I have had some really annoying issues (probably caused by AOL).
Firstly, a USB ports stops working
Secondly, my pc has randomly rebooted 3 times in 2 days
Finally, the USB ADSL (provided by AOL) has crashed 4 times in 2 days.
I have tryed to count the amount of times i have rebooted, and i counted 12.
I got my PC december 1999, which proves that it is very old.

hmm, interesting. You may want to do a few virus and spyware scans. See how that turns out. Also you can get some sort of diagnostics doctor – have a google search for it. It tells you exactly where the problems are.
Do a system restore – that ought to work, else reinstall some of the USB drivers & re-install this modem. If all else fails, re-install your OS.

I must admit it is a no win problem. I want to move ubuntu so badly, the CD and new hard drive are basically on my desktop awaiting a hard drive switch to do a test install.
I even have a little thing in the logo at linux.org (which i cannot spell…) on my offline desktop.
Firstly, AOL is gotta go, 1 week more of AOL left, then it will never visit my pc forever, hopefully.
Secondly, i will buy a new CD-RW and i will write my data i want to keep on there.
Thirdly, i will reformat completly, and use unbuntu.
Finally, i will watch AOL and microsoft going to hell!
